Welcome to Northampton Rowing Club
NRC is a small friendly club affiliated to British Rowing and are based on a 3km stretch of the River Nene. In 2009
we completed the first stage of replacing an ageing boatstore with a new facility. The new boathouse provides storage
for our coaching launches and a full variety of boats ranging from single sculls to eights. In 2014 the second stage of the
project began with a first floor being added, allowing us to offer improved facilities
including a gym and a club house.
First phase of new boathouse completed in October 2009

We have approximately 1800m rowable river downstream and 1000m upstream
We attend time trials (Heads) that include the Head of the River Race held on the Thames...
...we also attend regattas including some at Eton Dorney and Henley (Metropolitan Regatta - June 2018)...
...and enjoy success (Nottingham City Regatta - May 2022)
...Nottingham Trent Head - Feb 2018
...Henley Masters Regatta - July 2014
We hold our own time trial (head) too in late January every year
We share some facilities with Northampton Active which
is also home to the Northampton Canoe and Kayak Club. Within the centre are full
changing and showering facilities and a café.
Although we are a small club, we are active all year round with races, events and social activities. Training takes
place at weekends (mornings) and weekday evenings (Tuesdays and Thursdays). We have a varied membership with some
members having competed at national events such as Henley Royal Regatta, Henley Women's Regatta, The National Schools
Regatta and The National Rowing Championships of Great Britain.
The performances of our GB Rowing athletes always undoubtedly inspires many people
to give sport a try for the first time or try a different sport. If you want to become one of around a quarter of a million people
who row, scull or cox in England on a monthly basis, please register for our next event.
Rowing could be the sport for you!

NRC is run as a not for profit club by volunteers and we're always looking for new people to help run the club. It's
immensely satisfying to help out whether it be coaching, running indoor training session or even tending to the
grounds. Your efforts could be rewarded by seeing a group reach a particular goal or a first win at an event (we can even arrange
courses for aspiring coaches). Or it could be just being part the club's growth and success. If you'd like to play
some part then please don't hesitate to get in touch with the chairman.
